In November 2015, the New York City (NYC) Department of Health and Mental Hygiene began developing and implementing plans for managing Zika virus; NYC activated its Incident Command System on February 1, 2016. As of June 17, 2016, a total of 3,605 patients had been tested for Zika virus in NYC, 182 (5.0%) of whom had confirmed Zika virus infection. Twenty cases were in women who were pregnant at the time of diagnosis, and two cases of Zika virus–associated Guillain-BarrĂ© syndrome were diagnosed.
