Hobart mayor says Indigenous memorial shouldn't be "guilt-ridden"

Among the most read stories on our website this morning, an apology has been demanded from the mayor of Hobart after she said she did not want a proposed memorial to Aboriginal people killed by settlers to be a "guilt-ridden place".

"I didn't kill the Aborigines, and nor would I. It was a different era," she said. Her comments were about the Museum of Old and New Art (Mona), which has unveiled a plan for a $2bn waterfront development in Hobart that would include a Truth and Reconciliation Art Park.
