The Constitutional Court of Germany has rejected a bid to ban the far-right National Democratic Party (NPD), which has often been accused of being a neo-Nazi party. The case was brought by lawmakers who called the NPD a threat to the country's democratic system. Andreas Vosskuhle, the court's president, said that the party's ideology did not merit a ban and that it posed no active threat to democracy, the DPA news agency reported.
