Suicides by occupation, England: 2011 to 2015

Suicide is the leading cause of death in England in adults below the age of 50, and past research shows that some occupations are at particularly high risk. This report describes recent analysis of deaths from suicide in different occupational groups among those aged 20 to 64 years. Such analysis can inform targeted suicide prevention measures and provide a broader understanding of influences on suicide.

Housing affordability in England and Wales: 1997 to 2016

On average, working people could expect to pay around 7.6 times their annual earnings on purchasing a home in England and Wales in 2016, up from 3.6 times earnings in 1997.

The median price paid for residential property in England and Wales increased by 259% between 1997 and 2016; median individual annual earnings increased by 68% in the same time period.

House price statistics for small areas in England and Wales: year ending Dec 1995 to year ending Sept 2016

The median price paid for residential property in neighbourhoods within England and Wales ranged from £24,500 (within the County Durham local authority district) to £2,920,000 (within Westminster).
