BREAKING: Maria makes landfall on Dominica as a Category 5 hurricane, maintaining its approach to slam Puerto Rico

  Hurricane Maria made landfall on Dominica as a Category 5 storm, the National Hurricane Center said. The "potentially catastrophic" storm was upgraded to a Category 5 on Monday with maximum sustained winds of 160 mph. Maria is expected to approach Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands Tuesday and Wednesday night, the National Hurricane Center said.
