Kurdish referendum: Iran halts flights to Iraq's Kurdish region ahead of vote
Iran has halted all flights to and from the Kurdish regions in northern Iraq. The air embargo is the first retaliatory measure against Monday's Kurdish independence referendum, which Iran, Iraq and Turkey all oppose.
Swiss voters nix pension reform in national referendum
Voters in the alpine nation rejected a plan that would have increased taxes to fund state pension coffers. The retirement age for women would have also gone up, as the nation struggles to deal with an aging populace.
Car bomber targets NATO convoy in Afghanistan
At least three civilians were wounded when a suicide car bomb targeted a convoy of foreign forces in Kabul. The Taliban has taken responsibility for the attack and claimed it killed 16 American soliders.
US sends bombers over North Korean coast
In a display of military strength, US bombers and fighter escorts have flown over North Korea. As the war of words ramped up, the move was designed to show Pyongyang that President Donald Trump means business.
Uber's London license to be suspended, Uber to appeal
Transport for London (TfL) has announced it will not renew Uber's private hire operator license. TfL cites Uber's lack of corporate responsibility for the decision. Uber will appeal the decision.

Peter Sagan wins third straight road race world championship title
Slovakian rider Peter Sagan timed his finish perfectly to secure a historic third straight world title in Bergen, Norway on Sunday. Sagan pipped home favorite Alexander Kristoff to the line in a photo-finish.
