New data will give ONS a uniquely detailed view of the UK economy

ONS has today published details of exactly how it plans to use VAT returns in the calculation of GDP from next month. 
Initially, ONS will use 600,000 VAT returns from small and medium-sized businesses, with this number increasing over the next couple of years.
