Defence programme, clean energy, buildings energy performance: committee votes

The Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will vote on amendments to the proposed European Defence Industrial Development Programme, on 21.02.18. It will also vote on the provisional agreement on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, and on legislative reports which are part of the Clean Energy for all Europeans Package, namely on the electricity market design, on risk preparedness in the electricity sector and on the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators.

The Committee on Budgets will look into the draft compromise amendments on two reports in the framework of the EU's next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), on 21.02.18. These are namely the report on Parliament's position on the MFF post-2020, and the report on the reform of the EU system of own-resources. The Committee will vote on both reports on 22.02.18. They will then be voted on by the entire Parliament during its March plenary session in Strasbourg.

The Committee on Employment and Social Affairs will look into the Commission's proposal on transparent and predictable working conditions in the EU, on 21.02.18. The meeting will take place with the participation of Marianne Thyssen, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility.




European services e-card, media pluralism and freedom: committee votes

The Committee on Legal Affairs will vote on its opinion on the proposed European services e-card, on 22.02.18. The proposed Regulation was presented jointly with a Directive and is complementary to other policy initiatives in the context of services announced in the Single Market Strategy, to prevent the introduction of barriers to cross-border service provision at national level. The Committee will also vote on its opinion on media pluralism and media freedom in the EU.

The Committee on Terrorism will hold a debate with Ahmed Abbadi, Secretary General of the Rabita Mohammedia des Oulémas (Mohammadia League of Scholars), on 22.02.18. The organisation, linked to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Morocco, has launched an interactive internet site addressed to the youth, aiming at countering the extremist online content. The organisation promotes more moderate approach to faith and is active in 25 countries.




European Medicines Agency post-Brexit relocation: committee mission

The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will send a fact-finding mission to Amsterdam, where the European Medicines Agency (EMA) is to be relocated after Brexit, on 22.02.18. The delegation will visit the temporary location and the future headquarters for the EMA to ascertain that the transfer process is proceeding as planned and without interruption. The findings of the delegation will provide input to the discussion on the relocation proposal.
