Thunderstorms now breaking out over East Anglia.

What to expect

  • Some flooding of a few homes and businesses likely
  • Probably some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is likely
  • There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus

Further details

Thunderstorms are now developing over parts of East Anglia and are expected to move northeastwards during the rest of Sunday afternoon before clearing during the early evening. Whilst the majority of places will miss the worst of these or only see a brief shower a few sites will see an hour or 2 of heavy rain with 20 mm possible very locally. Lightning and hail will also be an additional hazard.
