American Cancer Society®
Thank you for your support.
Today, we know more about cancer than we ever have before. Tomorrow and in the months ahead, we'll know even more—all thanks to our dedicated researchers, our devoted volunteers, and generous supporters like you.

For more than 100 years, the American Cancer Society has been honored to partner with dedicated, caring people like you to do more for families facing cancer and to save more lives. Here are just a few of the recent research projects that you've helped make possible:

Preventing melanoma. Scientists at the University of Utah are using zebrafish, a type of minnow, to identify genes that help cancer cells spread and drugs that might stop them. They recently laid the groundwork for a preventive medicine in people at high risk for melanoma, a serious form of skin cancer.

Understanding human papillomavirus (HPV) risk. You may know that persistent infection with HPV causes cervical cancer. New research from the American Cancer Society's CPS-II study adds to the evidence suggesting that several types of HPV are also associated with certain head and neck cancers.

Discovering treatment gaps in rectal cancer. Two studies from our internal research team shed new light on the problem for stage II and III patients. First, travel distance deters patients from getting the radiation therapy they need. Second, many patients are not getting the standard treatment, and socioeconomic factors play a role.

Together, we're bringing new treatments and new information about cancer to light. With your support, we're fighting cancer smarter, better, and harder than we ever have before. From everyone at the American Cancer Society, and everyone who has stood up to cancer: thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Your American Cancer Society

P.S. If you'd like to continue your support, we encourage you to make a gift today. Your donation will help develop better, more effective cancer treatments and bring hope to the families and individuals across the country who have been touched by cancer.
