Super fast spin for supergiant Betelgeuse

This famous red star is spinning some 150 times faster than expected. Astronomers think it swallowed a companion star just 100,000 years ago.

Betelgeuse will explode someday

Someday, the star Betelgeuse will run out of fuel, collapse under its own weight, and then rebound in a spectacular supernova explosion.  Someday ... but probably not soon.
