New study results help answer a longstanding mystery about why the thermal conductivity of amorphous silicon dioxide, commonly known as glass, rises with temperature. The research--done using the Stampede supercomputer at the Texas Advanced Computing Center--shows how heat transport works at the smallest scales. Source Texas Advanced Computing Center
