Food Supplements

FSA Wales has produced a short leaflet for FBOs selling food supplements to remind them of their legal obligations. It sets out the responsibilities of an FBO, how food supplements should be labelled, information on nutrition or health claims, and unsafe products to look out for. The leaflet is aimed at smaller 'non-traditional' retailers of food supplements such as gyms or beauty salons.

Nutrition Labelling

Having a nutrition declaration on prepacked foods became mandatory from 13 December 2016. The FSA has updated the pages on the European food information to consumers regulations No.1169/2011 to include information on these new rules. The FSA in Northern Ireland, along with FSA Wales and Food Standards Scotland have also produced a leaflet and Q&A.

Allergen resources

The FSA has produced a range of allergen materials to assist local authorities and food businesses in promoting, implementing and complying with the EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation. These resources are still available on our website and a number can still be ordered from Food Standards Agency Publications free of charge.
