Economy Annual Business Survey: UK non-financial business economy foreign owned businesses, 2014 and 2015 In 2015, there were just over 2 million registered businesses in the UK non-financial business economy; of these, 1.1% (24,145) were owned by businesses outside of the UK, that is, were foreign-owned. Despite this small proportion (1.1%) of businesses being foreign-owned, they contributed £333.7 billion in approximate gross value added (aGVA) to the UK non-financial business economy in 2015; this was a contribution of 28.6% to total aGVA in the UK. People, population and community Overseas travel and tourism, monthly provisional results: Jan 2017 Overseas residents made 2.9 million visits to the UK in January 2017; this is an increase of 11% when compared with January 2016. UK residents made 4.6 million visits abroad in January 2017; this has increased by 9% when compared with January 2016. Overseas residents spent £1.5 billion on their visits to the UK in January 2017; this is an increase of 15% when compared with January 2016.
