Good morning, and welcome to the Morning Mail.

Among the stories on our website this morning: A 92-year-old second world war veteran in ailing health is facing the threat of being deported from Australia after he was refused a resident's visa.

James Bradley and his wife, Peggie, 91, have been living in Australia for 10 years, and applied for permanent residency under the aged parent visa in 2007 when they moved to Sydney to join their daughter and her family. They passed medical examinations and were warned that there could be waiting times of up to 30 years for the visa, but Mr Bradley has been refused a resident's visa after failing a more recent medical exam.

Keep reading for the rest of the top stories this morning, with more news from around Australia and the world.
