Good morning, and welcome to the Morning Mail.

Among the stories leading our website this morning: With US attorney general Jeff Sessions' recusal from any investigations into Russian influence on the presidential election, the widely admired nominee for deputy attorney general, Rod Rosenstein, could be dropped into the thick of the Trump administration controversy. If confirmed, he would oversee any justice department investigation into Russian interference in the election – including any contacts between Russia and members of the Trump campaign.

One last thing

A picture from Emma Watson's Vanity Fair photoshoot. The March issue of Vanity Fair is out now. Photograph: Tim Walker/Vanity Fair

Emma Watson and Vanity Fair: not everything a feminist does is a feminist actThe actor has been forced to defend her skimpy outfits for a Vanity Fair photoshoot. She's not the first underdressed superstar to cause a stir via the pages of the magazine.Forced to defend the photoshoot, yesterday Watson said: "Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It's about freedom, it's about liberation, it's about equality. I really don't know what my tits have to do with it."
