Venus at its brightest in morning sky
We passed between Venus and the sun a month ago. Now the planet shines brilliantly, low in the east before dawn.

Watch for a young moon this weekend

The young moon is back in the west after sunset. Very lovely, and passing near some bright stars in the days ahead.
Cassini dives between Saturn and its rings
This spacecraft made the 1st-ever dive through the gap between Saturn's outer atmosphere and inner rings on Wednesday.

Cassini dives between Saturn and its rings
This unprocessed image shows features in Saturn's atmosphere from closer than ever before. The view was captured by NASA's Cassini spacecraft during its first Grand Finale dive past the planet on April 26, 2017. 
Watch for a young moon this weekend

Here's last night's moon from Gowrishankar Lakshminarayanan in NYC. He wrote: "This is a 13-image composite of the waxing crescent moon setting behind the Empire State Building. The moon sequence is placed 2 minutes, 30 seconds apart."
