Barcelona anti-terror march attended by hundreds of thousands, King Felipe IV joins
Spanish King Felipe IV joined hundreds of thousands of demonstrators in a rally against violence in Barcelona on Saturday. The demonstrators marched to the Placa de Catalunya, the site of the August 17 attack.
Myanmar troops 'open fire on Rohingya villagers'
Soldiers, who have been fighting Islamist insurgents, are said to have fired at civilians fleeing the violence. Up to 2,000 Rohingya Muslims from Rakhine state have reportedly been stopped at the border with Bangladesh.
Emmanuel Macron's make-up bill totals 26,000 euros in just three months
French President Emmanuel Macron has spent a whopping 26,000 euros ($31,000) on his own make-up in the first three months of his presidency. Ridicule and outrage ensued on social media.

Reports of damage are coming in after the landfall of Hurricane Harvey, the strongest storm to hit the US mainland in over a decade. Harvey has been downgraded to a Category 1 storm after hitting the Texas coast.
Swiss authorities stop search for eight missing in Alpine landslide
Swiss police say they are abandoning their search for eight people, including four Germans, missing since a landslide on Wednesday. More than 100 rescuers were involved in the search.

Lewis Hamilton equals Schumacher's record with Spa pole
Lewis Hamilton recorded the fastest lap in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa. In doing so, the three-time champion equals the record set by German legend Michael Schumacher of 68 pole positions.
