Vaccine update


Hello, 

Availability of Influenza vaccines for the national children's flu immunisation programme

Ordering for Fluenz Tetra®, the live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) for children aged 2 and over is anticipated open week ending 22 September, with deliveries commencing the following week.

Order controls for both GPs and school providers will be in place, details of which can be found in the most recent edition of Vaccine Update:

There are also 2 inactivated influenza vaccines supplied by PHE for children who are contraindicated for Fluenz Tetra® and in a clinical risk group, which will be subject to the following order controls:

  • Inactivated influenza vaccine (split virion) BP (for children UNDER 3 years) will have an initial order cap of 5 doses per order per week.
  • Fluarix Tetra® (for children OVER 3 years) will have an initial order cap of 30 doses per order per week.

Fluarix Tetra is expected to be available to order from Monday 11 September. Inactivated influenza vaccine (split virion) BP is expected to be available week commencing 18 September.
