Breaking: Southern California fire, which has reached 273,400 acres, becomes the state’s largest wildfire in history

  The Thomas fire earned its place in California history on Friday when it reached 273,400 acres, according to the National Weather Service. The Ventura County fire has destroyed more than 1,000 buildings and outpaced the 2003 Cedar fire in San Diego County that burned 273,246 acres.
