The petitions concern several Member States, including the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria. An Austrian petition, which has gathered 98 500 signatures, calls for greater EU action on the immediate worldwide phasing out of nuclear energy. The petitions originate from Italy, Spain and the UK. All petitions relate to the allegedly discriminatory treatment of foreign-language university lecturers and assistants in Italy. The study, commissioned by Policy Department C for the Committee on Petitions, provides a comparison of the Italian legal framework on beach concessions with models adopted by other EU Member States for managing coastal property. It also highlights the potential consequences of recent rulings of the Court of Justice of the European Union, which may impose an imminent and comprehensive reform of national frameworks. The countries concerned by the petitions are Slovakia, Spain, and Italy.
