European Agenda on Migration - What about Legal Avenues and Integration
The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will hold an inter-parliamentary committee meeting to look into the legal avenues and integration issues in relation to the European Agenda on Migration. The meeting will take place on 24.01.18 and will give parliamentarians at national and European level the opportunity to discuss these issues with representatives of EU institutions, bodies and agencies, intergovernmental organisations, local governments, academics and think tanks.

The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will vote on its draft legislative report regarding the definition, presentation and labelling of spirit drinks, on 24.01.18. The aim of the proposal is to align EU legislation on spirit drinks with the Lisbon Treaty. It contains technical adjustments and replaces the existing procedures for the management of geographical indications in the spirit drinks sector with new ones modelled on those for agricultural products and foodstuffs.




Gender equality in EU trade agreements: joint committee vote

The Committees on International Trade and on Women's Rights and Gender Equality will vote on the non-legislative report regarding gender equality in EU trade agreements, on 24.01.18. The report presents concrete recommendations on what the EU could do to ensure that trade policies reflect gender equality objectives. The document is structured into three parts dealing with general considerations and objectives, sector specific considerations and objectives, and actions needed at EU level.




Post-2020 outlook for EU budget: committee debate with Commissioner Oettinger

The Budgets Committee will look into the reports on preparing the Parliament's position on the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), and on the reform of the EU system of own-resources, together with Commissioner Oettinger. The non-legislative reports aim to present Parliament's views on the building blocks of the next MFF, and put forward recommendations on the revenue side of the EU budget, ahead of the Commission proposal for the next MFF. The meeting will be held on 24.01.18.




Centralised system on conviction information, fundamental rights: committee votes

The legislative report on establishing a centralised system for the identification of Member States holding conviction information on third country nationals and stateless persons (TCN) will be voted by the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs on 25.01.18, together with the mandate for inter-institutional negotiations and the composition of Parliament's negotiating team. The Committee will also vote on the annual report on the situation of fundamental rights in the EU.




Post-Cotonou, budget support, aid for trade: committee debates

The Development Committee will discuss the mid-term review and the future post-2020 architecture for the EU's external funding instruments, on 24.01.18. It will then go over the mandate for negotiating a post-2020 partnership with African, Caribbean and Pacific countries together with Commissioner Mimica, on 25.01.18. Other issues that will be looked into include: ending a fisheries agreement with the Comoros, budget support, the EU aid for trade Strategy and the World Social Protection Report.
