The Committee on Development commissioned a study to examine those effects in view of reforming the CAP. The study finds that distortive effects of the CAP have been considerably reduced from 2014 onwards, yet Voluntary Coupled Support to European farmers in some sectors have generated new distortions. The study also highlights risks in relation to food security and sustainable development, climate and the environment stemming from the competitive orientation of the CAP and its consumption stimulating effects.
