  UC Berkeley chancellor Dirks to resign amid criticism  
 
 
 
After months of growing campus criticism over his leadership, UC Berkeley Chancellor Nicholas Dirks has let it be known that he intends to step down sometime after the end of the new school year, though the exact date of his departure remains uncertain, university sources say.
