What makes a halo around the sun or moon?

A large ring or circle of light around the sun or moon is called a 22-degree halo by scientists.

Which bird migrates the farthest?

Over its lifetime, this bird can fly a million kilometers, nearly three times the distance from the Earth to the moon.

November is the month of the Pleiades   

At this time of year, for all of us around the globe, the Pleiades star cluster culminates - reaches its highest point in the sky - around midnight.

Have you seen a moon halo?

They're called 22-degree halos by scientists. Sheryl R. Garrison in Idaho caught this one around the November 14 supermoon. This one is a special type of lunar halo, called a circumscribed halo.
