Did you know that the Grand Canyon is bigger than the state of Rhode Island? Or that it's full of hidden caves, or that it takes 5 hours to drive from rim to rim? 

 

For nearly a century, Grand Canyon National Park has been inspiring awe. First protected in 1893 as a reserve and later as a national monument, it wasn't until February 26, 1919, that the Grand Canyon became a national park. As we celebrate nearly 100 years of protecting this special place, test your knowledge with 13 little-known facts about this Arizona icon.
