What is Lunar X?

A sign of an alien visitation? No. It's visible on a first quarter moon, and an example of how lighting and topography can combine to produce a pattern that seems familiar to the human eye.

First quarter moon comes today

It's waxing toward full moon on April 11. Rises at noon, highest at sunset, appears half-lit from Earth.

Today is John Burroughs' birthday
