PMI at ASTMH 2017 The PMI VectorWorks Project Durability Monitoring Meeting Date: Monday, November 6, 12:30–2:00 pm Location: Hilton Baltimore, Key Ballroom Salon 9 401 West Pratt Street Baltimore, MD 21201 The U.S. President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) VectorWorks Project will be hosting a meeting at the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) for those working on long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLIN) durability monitoring to connect and discuss operational issues around monitoring LLINs in the field. This will be a chance to meet and share experiences from fieldwork and data analysis. Please register here. The PMI MalariaCare Project: Five Years of Country Support to Improve Quality of Malaria Case Management in Sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia Meeting Date: Tuesday November 7, 10:15 am–12:00 pm Location: Hilton Baltimore, Holiday Ballroom 5 (East Building, 2nd floor) During this meeting, MalariaCare – a 5-year partnership (2012–2017) led by PATH and funded by PMI – will share project accomplishments as well as country-level experiences and lessons learned about the introduction and scale-up of case management services for diagnosis and treatment of malaria and other febrile illnesses. Innovative Approaches to Monitor Resistance and Resistance Management for Effective Vector Control Date: Wednesday, November 8, 10:15 am Location: Baltimore Convention Center, Room 318/319/320 (Level 300) This symposium, which includes presenters from the PMI Africa Indoor Residual Spray (AIRS) project and other researchers, will draw on country examples to discuss how insecticide resistance monitoring has been built in insecticide-based vector control programs in 13 countries in Africa, and how empirical data generated from the monitoring has been used regularly to inform vector control programs, particularly IRS.
