Countering money laundering: committee vote. Security Dialogue with Commissioner King

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will vote its legislative report on countering money laundering by means of criminal law. The proposed Directive aims to tackle money laundering by allowing for better cross-border cooperation between competent authorities. The Committee will also hold a Security Dialogue with Commissioner King on countering terrorist narratives and progress made towards a Security Union. The meeting will take place on 11.12.17 in Strasbourg.




2017 Sakharov Prize laureates: joint committee debate

Venezuela
The Committees Foreign Affairs and on Development, and the Subcommittee on Human Rights will meet the 2017 Sakharov Prize laureates, the democratic opposition and political prisoners in Venezuela, on 11.12.17. The Venezuelan opposition will be represented by Antonio Ledezma, who recently escaped house arrest, and relatives of political prisoners. Finalist Lolita Chavez, and Bethlehem Isaak - daughter of finalist Dawit Isaak - will also participate. The award ceremony will be held on 13.12.17.




11th WTO Ministerial Conference: committee mission

A delegation led by International Trade Committee Chair Bernd Lange, will join the EU delegation to the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference that will take place from 10.12 to 13.12.17, in Buenos Aires. The aim is to advance the global trade agenda and strengthen a rules-based and fair multilateral trading system. Parliament is also co-organising the Parliamentary Conference on the WTO, bringing together 300 members in the Congress of Argentina, ahead of the Ministerial Conference.




EU administrative law: public consultation on citizens' expectations

EU law establishes citizens' rights to an open, independent and efficient EU administration. The Committee on Legal Affairs is therefore launching a 12-week consultation process to determine what the public expects regarding its relations with the EU's administration. To this end, individuals, companies, professors, universities and any other institution interested in taking part in the consultation can complete a questionnaire which will made available through the link below, as of 15.12.17.
