Equipment successfully recovered from Blackwater Estuary NOC engineers successfully recovered scientific instruments from the Blackwater Estuary this week as part of BLUEcoast, a NERC-funded project that is improving our understanding of processes controlling our coastal systems.  BLUEcoast aims to inform coastal management by reducing uncertainties in the prediction of medium-term (years) and long-term (decadal and longer) regional sediment budgets, morphological change and how the coast recovers after storms. The multi-disciplinary project combines the expertise of biologists, coastal engineers, geologists, geographers, and oceanographers with complementary field, laboratory and numerical skills. NOC at POGO 19 NOC's Executive Director, Ed Hill, attended the 19th annual meeting of the The Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO) - the forum created in 1999 by directors and leaders of major oceanographic institutions around the world to promote global oceanography. POGO-19 was held at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego and among the topics discussed were Arctic Observations, Innovative Biological Sampling and Innovation in Ocean Observations.
