It will be an opportunity to receive feedback on the Commission's initiatives, as well as to obtain factual information from experts in the field of public procurement about how the legal and policy framework works in the Union, and whether the Commission's plans address sufficiently the challenges ahead. The results of the workshop would feed into the own-initiative report. The mandate to start negotiations with the Council of the EU was approved by with 30 votes in favour, five against and one abstention. The Council (member states) has yet to agree on its position.
