Highlights - Implementation of the 7th Environment Action Programme (7th EAP) - Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety 26-02-2018 05:36 PM CET On 27 February, the ENVI Committee will vote on the above draft report. The report assesses the implementation of the 7th EAP so far and the likelihood of achieving its objectives by 2020. It also shows the shortcomings which create obstacles to the implementation of the EAP's objectives and offers recommendations for improved implementation and suggestions for any future EAP. In her draft report, the Rapporteur calls in particular for improving the research on areas such as environmental thresholds, nanomaterials, the impacts of microplastics, the interaction between systemic risks and other health determinants, soil and land use and invasive alien species. It also stresses the need for infrastructure projects to fully consider environmental impacts at regional level, for further reform of the CAP to incentivise a sustainable food production system and for farming systems and agricultural to lower their environmental impact.
