13-02-2018 02:29 PM CET Fight against terrorism: committee missions TERR - 12-02-2018 - 09:17 Following the recent terrorist attacks in the United Kingdom and Germany, the Special Committee on Terrorism is organising two fact-finding missions to these countries between 13.02 and 16.02.18. The delegations will meet national authorities and see what actions are being taken in the fight against terrorism. In order to fulfil its mandate, the Committee is engaging in dialogue with Member States to discuss the concrete challenges and obstacles in the fight against terrorism. Further information Study on the responsibility of the TERR Committee The local impacts of the coal industry: committee mission on petitions PETI - 13-02-2018 - 10:06 A delegation of the Committee on Petitions will visit Brandenburg (Germany) from 14.02 to 16.02.18 to examine allegations raised in two petitions relating to the local impacts of the coal industry. The first petition concerns the impact of coal mines and coal-fired power stations on the Sorb community, a Slavic minority in the region of Lusatia. The second petition refers to the pollution of the river Spree and the adjacent waters as a consequence of coal-mining activities. Further information PETI's mission page European vocational education and training: committee mission EMPL - 12-02-2018 - 09:14 The Committee on Employment and Social Affairs will send a delegation to Greece from 12.02 to 13.02.18, to visit the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training. The delegation aims to discuss topics such as the Agency's contribution to the design and the implementation of European vocational education and training policy, and will also look at key issues for future cooperation. Further information European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training National strategies for renewables: workshop ITRE - 12-02-2018 - 17:46 A workshop on national strategies for renewables will be held for the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy on 22.02.18. This workshop is being organised in connection with the Committee's on-going work on the legislative proposals related to the Clean Energy for All Europeans package. The aim is to look into national strategies for renewables in relation to energy efficiency targets and policies, including building renovation and self-consumption. Rail passenger rights; Brexit and maritime transport: public hearings TRAN - 13-02-2018 - 14:29 The Committee on Transport and Tourism will hold a hearing with experts and stakeholders in the context of the Commission's proposed regulation on rail passengers' rights and obligations. The Committee will also hold the third of a series of hearings about the impact of Brexit on transport, this time focusing on the maritime sector, including shipping companies and ports. Both hearings will take place on 20.02.18. Collective redress in the EU: hearing. Text and data mining: workshop JURI - 12-02-2018 - 17:54 The Committee on Legal Affairs will hold a hearing on collective redress in the EU during its meeting of 21.02.18. A workshop on text and data mining will then be held for the Committee on 22.02.18. The priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency in relation to the Committee's area of responsibility will be looked into together with the Presidency's representatives, on the same day.
