| | The Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General will no longer issue preliminary reports on the Federal Emergency Management Agency's initial responses to disasters. Instead, the IG will provide real-time feedback to the agency on problems it identifies during disaster recovery. The change means the watchdog won't be issuing a public assessment of FEMA's preliminary efforts to help Puerto Rico recover from Hurricane Maria. Last week, the watchdog took the extraordinary step last week of pulling a dozen largely positive assessments of the Obama administration's initial response to several disasters.
