Marine Plastic Pollution: How did we get here and what can we do about it?
Plastic pollution is undoubtedly one of the biggest environmental issues we face at the moment. Plastic has only been in our lives for around seventy years, so how did we get to where we are, what went wrong? More importantly, what can we do about it? In this presentation David will explore these questions in a sometimes disturbing and visually stimulating way.
Speaker
David Jones worked for the Plastic Oceans Foundation from 2009 – 2017 and has studied the ocean plastic and microplastics issue over that period. He was also the Executive Adviser to the film 'A Plastic Ocean' as well as one of the cameramen and the diving supervisor for the underwater work in the film. He has spoken at numerous high profile events, including the World Ocean Summit in Bali and the International Ocean Forum in South Korea. He is curently undertaking a MSc in coastal and Marine Resource Management at University of Portsmouth.

Parking at the NOC
There are a number of designated visitor parking spaces available at NOC. If these are full after 5pm please drive to the staff car parks barriers and access can be given by pressing the intercom button in the box next to the barrier, on requesting entry you will be asked for Name and Car Registration number and the barrier will be lifted.
Please do not park in areas not designated for parking and ensure roadways are kept clear.
