To mark UN International Day of Friendship this Sunday, explore our social capital statistics looking at personal relationships and social support networks across the UK. 

Most UK adults said they had at least one close friend, rising from 95% in 2011 to 2012 to 97% in 2014 to 2015.

63% of UK adults used the internet for social networking in the last 3 months in 2016, compared with 53% in 2013.

68% of UK adults regularly stopped and talked to their neighbours in 2014-15, up from 66% in 2011-12.
