BREAKING: San Francisco jury finds man who entered U.S. illegally not guilty in Kate Steinle murder trial that grabbed national attention

  Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, a Mexican man who had been deported five times before, said the fatal shooting of Kate Steinle on a San Francisco pier in 2015 was an accident. The case sparked national debate because San Francisco police had released him from jail before the incident under its "sanctuary city" law. Then-presidential candidate Donald Trump used the case to call for tougher immigration policies. Garcia Zarate was found guilty of being a felon in possession of firearm.
