Missions - Ad-hoc LIBE/PANA fact-finding mission to Malta - 30-11-2017 - Committee of Inquiry to investigate alleged contraventions and maladministration in the application of Union law in relation to money laundering, tax avoidance and tax evasion - Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs 05-12-2017 02:41 PM CET An ad-hoc delegation, composed of members of the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) and the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee into Money Laundering, Tax Evasion and Tax Avoidance (PANA) visited Malta on 30 November and 1 December to look into the state of the rule of law and the implementation of European anti-money laundering legislation (AML) in the country. The mission was organised in follow up of the resolution on the rule of law in Malta, which Parliament adopted on 15 November 2017. Delegation Members met with the most relevant actors in those areas, including the Prime Minister, the Minister of Justice, the Chief Justice, the Police Commissioner, the Attorney General, the Financial Analysis Intelligence Unit (FIAU), the Financial Services Authority (MFSA), non-governmental organisations and anti-corruption activists, media, representatives of the Pilatus Bank and of KPMG Malta.
