Source : © European Union, 2017 - EP Highlights - ENVI-ITRE vote on Governance of the energy union - Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety 05-12-2017 11:33 AM CET On 7 December 2017, the ENVI-ITRE joint committee will vote on the draft report on Governance of the Energy Union (rapporteurs: Michèle Rivasi / Claude Turmes). In total, 1700 amendments have been tabled to the Commission's proposal, which proposes a governance mechanism for the implementation of the Union's 2030 climate and energy targets and for the reporting to the UNFCCC and Paris Agreement secretariats. Ahead of the vote, political groups have tabled 93 compromise proposals. Source : © European Union, 2017 - EP Highlights - European Forest Strategy - Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety 05-12-2017 11:33 AM CET On 4 December, the AGRI-ENVI-ITRE committees held a public hearing aiming to provide input to the review to be carried out by 2018 to assess progress in the implementation of the EU Forest Strategy. This joint hearing also provides a platform for annual structural dialogue between the Parliament and the Commission on the implementation of the new EU Forest strategy. The six invited experts discussed in particular European Forest Governance, the role of the forest-based sector in the bioeconomy and in the rural development policy, and the links between forests and resilient landscapes. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a complex issue of global concern. With the aim of discussing the main challenges related to this topic and the recently published "A European One Health Action Plan against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)", the workshop was hosted by Ms Soledad CABEZÓN RUIZ (MEP) and Mr Alojz PETERLE (MEP) Co-chairs of the Health Working Group within the ENVI Committee.
