01-12-2017 12:23 PM CET The EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is a comprehensive agreement covering market access, tariffs, non-tariff barriers, trade facilitation, liberalisation of services, procurement, investment, including investment protection, sustainable development, IPR including GIs, rules of origin, competition and transparency. The FTA eliminates virtually all Singaporean tariffs on EU imports. It also eliminates almost all EU tariffs on imports from Singapore over 5 years. 80% of them are to be eliminated on entry into force of the agreement. The EU-Singapore FTA negotiations have started in March 2010 and INTA expects to vote on the agreement and accompanying Safeguard Regulation in the first half of 2018.
