Bush Institute USAID Commemorates World AIDS Day 2017 In honor of World AIDS Day, we look back at the impact that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and our implementing partners have had in combatting HIV/AIDS through transparency, accountability and partnerships.   As of September 2017, USAID and other implementing partners under PEPFAR have: Supported lifesaving antiretroviral treatment for more than 13.3 million people and HIV counseling and testing for more than 85.5 million people Supported more than 11.2 million pregnant women with HIV testing and counseling Provided critical care and support for more than 6.4 million orphans, vulnerable children and their caregivers Supported more than 15.2 million voluntary medical male circumcision procedures in eastern and southern Africa Achieved a 25-40% decline in new HIV diagnoses among girls and young women with HIV prevention services under the Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) partnership USAID leverages sustainable solutions and shared partnerships to effectively test, treat and care for people around the world, setting our sights on achieving control of the HIV/AIDS epidemic globally.  Learn more about the impact of USAID's global efforts on HIV/AIDS: Watch: Maggie's Quest to Reach Her Dreams Explore the Office of HIV/AIDS Research Blog Discover USAID's technical priority areas in the HIV/AIDS response Read about USAID's HIV/AIDS success stories Discover more about World AIDS Day: Learn more about USAID's World AIDS Day commemoration Discover other U.S. Government commemorations of World AIDS Day 2017 Join the conversation by using #EndAIDS and #WAD2017 on your social media platforms
