President Trump's Tax Leadership

'Trump's tax leadership'

The New York Sun's editorial board writes that Congress passing the most sweeping tax reform in 30 years is a testament to President Donald J. Trump's "remarkable working relationship with a number of members of Congress"—including those who have occasionally criticized him.

In negotiating the bill throughout the legislative process, the President earned the respect of many of these lawmakers. It helps that he's also staying true to his word. "The climate accord, Iran deal, Jerusalem embassy, military build-up, deregulation – one by one, Mr. Trump is making good on the promises of his campaign, a testament to the leadership we saw come to fruition on taxes," the editorial board writes.

In CBS News Michael Graham wonders if Democrats may end up wishing that they'd supported President Trump's tax plan. Eli Lake in Bloomberg View breaks down the Trump Administration's course correction at the United Nations. "Trump's predecessor used the U.N. to validate American foreign policy," Lake writes. But Ambassador Nikki Haley "has made it clear that the U.N. needs America more than America needs the U.N."

Judy Shelton writes in the The Wall Street Journal that President Trump's foreign policy echoes that of President Ronald Reagan. She harkens back to Reagan's 1982 address to the British Parliament, where he confronted America's enemies by "championing American values."

Howard Kurtz at Fox News says in the wake of Congress passing tax reform—along with more broken records at the stock market, nominations of conservatives to America's courts, and the destruction of ISIS—that the mainstream media is reluctantly starting to admit that President Trump is having a real impact.
