Citizens' rights after Brexit: public hearing

The Committees on Employment and Social Affairs, on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, and on Petitions will hold a hearing on 01.02.18, on the situation of citizens' rights after the announcement that sufficient progress had been achieved in the negotiations for the withdrawal agreement of the UK from the EU. Parliament has called for the agreement to incorporate the full set of rights citizens currently enjoy and to ensure reciprocity, equity, symmetry and non-discrimination.




Clean Mobility Package: committee debate with Commissioner Arias Cañete

The Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety will look into the second Clean Mobility Package, as adopted by the Commission in November 2017, together with Climate Action and Energy Commissioner, Miguel Arias Cañete. The package contains two legislative proposals falling within the Committee's remit: the proposed Regulation on post-2020 CO2 standards for cars and vans, and the proposed Directive on Clean Vehicles. The meeting will take place on 01.02.18.

Interparliamentary Committee meeting of the Committee on Regional Development and the National Parliaments on The Future of Cohesion Policy post 2020: Opportunities, challenges and next steps, held at the European Parliament
The Committee on Regional Development will hold a meeting on the future of Cohesion Policy after 2020, on 01.02.18. The Commission is currently is working on a reform of the EU Cohesion Policy, and the Committee is preparing a report to deliver Parliament's position ahead of this reform. Representatives of the EU institutions, Eurocities, the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions and the Association of European Regions will participate.




ECA elections observation report, EIB financial activities 2016: committee debates

The Budgetary Control Committee will look into the Court of Auditors' Special Report on the elections observation mechanism, on 01.02.18. The EU observes elections all over the world, after which recommendations are made to the host country to improve the electoral framework. The ECA also suggests further improvements on the issues raised. The Committee will also go over its draft report on the Annual Report on the Control of the Financial Activities of the European Investment Bank for 2016.




EU administrative law: public consultation on citizens' expectations

EU law establishes citizens' rights to an open, independent and efficient EU administration. The Committee on Legal Affairs has therefore launched a 12-week consultation process in December 2017, to determine what the public expects regarding its relations with the EU's administration. To this end, individuals, companies, professors, universities and any other institution interested in taking part in the consultation can complete a questionnaire which is available through the link below.
