Highlights - Exchange of views with Mr Jyrki Katainen - Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety

On 20 February, the ENVI Committee will hold the bi-annual exchange of views (EoV) on the implementation of the Circular Economy Action Plan with Jyrki Katainen, Vice President of the Commission responsible for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness. The EoV will focus on the new set of measures adopted by the European Commission on 16 January 2018 such as a "European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy" and on the other planned initiatives.

Commissionner Vytenis Andriukaitis taking the floor in a meeting
On 20 February, the ENVI Committee will hold an exchange of views with Mr Vytenis Andriukaitis, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, who will present the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) legislative proposal adopted by the Commission on 31 January 2018. The HTA proposal aims at boosting cooperation amongst Member States for assessing health technology, and help to make innovative technologies available to patients in Europe.

It covers new medicines and certain new medical devices, providing the basis for permanent and sustainable cooperation for joint clinical assessments in these areas.

European Environment Agency
On 20 February, the ENVI Committee will hold the annual exchange of views (EoV) with Hans Bruyninckx, Executive Director of the European Environment Agency. The EoV will focus on the EEA Work Programme for 2018 adopted by the EEA Management Board on 6 December 2017.
