Quality of products, market surveillance, customs: committee mission to Italy

The Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection will send a delegation to Florence, in Tuscany, from 04.04 to 06.04.18. Taking place in one of the most important industrial regions in Europe, this mission will include visits to companies (technological hub), and meeting with small local producers, multinational brands businesses, and stakeholders and experts on the quality of products and market surveillance. Meetings with custom authorities will also be held at the port of Livorno.




Labour cooperation, employment and social security: committee mission to Canada

A delegation of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs will go to Ottawa and Toronto from 03.04 to 06.04.18 to meet, amongst others, the International Affairs arm of the Canadian Labor Program. Issues related to the negotiation and implementation of international labour cooperation agreements will be discussed. The delegation will also visit the Ontario Ministry of Labour to look into the consequences of new technology and the platform economy on employment and social security schemes.




Missing persons: committee mission in Cyprus; Security and migration: visit to CEPOL

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will send a delegation to Nicosia, Cyprus, from 03.04 to 05.04.18, to look into the work of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) in recovering and identifying the remains of the missing persons in Cyprus. Another delegation will visit CEPOL (the EU Agency for Law Enforcement Training) in Budapest, Hungary, from 05.04 to 06.04.18, to go over its role in the implementation of the European Agendas on Security and on Migration.




Generalized System of Preferences: committee mission to Sri Lanka

The delegation of the International Trade Committee will go to Sri Lanka to follow up on the commitments made when applying for GSP+ status (Generalized System of Preferences), granted to the country in May 2017. The visit will take place from 04.04 to 06.04.18, during which the delegation will monitor the implementation of the 27 GSP+ relevant international conventions and meet government authorities and business representatives, the civil society and international organisations.
