Posting of workers
On 25 April the EMPL Members voted on the outcome of the interinstitutional negotiations between the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, who have reached a deal on the new EU rules to better protect workers posted to another member state.The revised rules aim to ensure better protection for posted workers and fair competition for companies.

Before entering into force, the draft directive will need to be formally approved by the full Parliament and the Council.

The 3 EMPL opinions, part of the so-called "Mobility package" hve been adopted on 25 April.
- Posting of drivers in the transport sector (Rapporteur M. Dlabajova/ALDE), 'Driving Time Regulation' by 30 votes against 22 with 2 abstentions
- Regulation (EU) 165/2014 on tachographs (Rapporteur G. Bach, EPP) and Amending Regulation (EC) No 1071/2009 by 32 votes to 14 with 7 abstentions
- Regulation (EC) No 1072/2009 with a view to adapting them to developments in the sector (Rapporteur V. Lope Fontagné/EPP) by 31 votes to 19 with 3 abstentions
The set of initiatives is aimed at making traffic safer, encouraging smart road charging, cutting red-tape for businesses, fight illicit employment and ensure proper conditions and rest times for workers.

The next EMPL committee meeting will take place on:

Wednesday 16 May 2018 from 9.00 until 12.30 and from 15.00 until 18.30 and on Wednesday 17 May 2018 from 9.00 until 12.30.
