Na-na-na-na-na-na BAT WEEK!

Mail from the U.S. Department of the Interior

Called creepy, scary and spooky, bats often get a bad rap. These little creatures are an important species that impact our daily lives in ways we might not even realize.

Over 300 species of fruit depend on bats for pollination -- including bananas, avocados and mangoes -- and bats can eat their body weight or more in insects, helping to keep pesky insects in check. Not to mention, bats are inspiring medical marvels.

We're celebrating Bat Week and the heroes of the night with 13 awesome bat facts (and amazing photos).
