Man fatally shot outside East San Jose elementary school
 
A man was fatally shot Wednesday night near an elementary school in East San Jose, authorities said. Officers responded to reports that one person was injured by gunfire about 8:45 p.m. on the 2500 block of Van Winkle Lane, just outside the Aptitud Community Academy at Goss, an elementary school, said Sgt. Enrique Garcia of the San Jose Police Department. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office is working to identify the victim and notify the family, Garcia added. The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
