Highlights - INI Report on a European Strategy on Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems - vote - Committee on Transport and Tourism

This INI report follows the EC Communication on strategy for deployment of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) as from 2019. The Rapporteur welcomes this communication and highlights the potential of digital technologies in road transport. The report focuses on data protection, cybersecurity, communication technologies and interoperability of systems.

The key message is to encourage industrial sectors to join forces so that the results of digital advances can be properly put in place and applied. Amendments will be considered on Monday 19 February at 16h35 and the vote will take place on Tuesday 20 February at 9h00 in room PHS 1A2.

Third in a series of the hearings about "impact of Brexit on transport', this hearing will focus on the maritime sector, including shipping companies and ports. As the negotiations between the UK and the EU enter their second, sector-specific stage, the Members will question their guests about their concerns, projections and wishes concerning the negotiations and legal and practical consequences of the UK leaving the EU.

The hearing will take place on 20 February 2018 from 14.30 in room PHS 1A2 and will be webstreamed.
