Highlights - 19-20 March: Migration Compact, Debt, Protracted Crisis and post-Cotonou hearing - Committee on Development

On Monday, 19 March, MEPs from the Foreign Affairs, the Development and the Civil Liberties will jointly discuss preparations of a Global Compact for Migration with Louise Arbour who leads the process for the UN (room Joszef Antál 2Q2). The Development committee will also discuss a report on forests management, the rights of indigenous peoples and the 2019 EU budget. On Tuesday, 20 March, the committee will vote reports on debt sustainability and on the implementation of development and humanitarian aid instruments. Protracted crises will be the focus of exchange of views with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer. Tuesday afternoon will be devoted to a hearing on the upcoming negotiations for a new partnership agreement with ACP countries. The future of food and farming and the EU's civil protection mechanism will also feature on the agenda. The meeting will be held in room Altiero Spinelli 3E-2 and will be webstreamed live.
